CAM is seeking nonprofit partners to participate in the refreshed release of the grant program the Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MMAP).
Nonprofit organizations will serve as key partners in the MMAP Accelerator providing assessment, facilitation, contracting and technical expertise to ensure that manufacturers receive the full benefit of the program.
The nonprofit partner will be responsible for the following activities. These activities can be managed entirely in house by the nonprofit, or in some cases, can be outsourced by the nonprofit to other subcontracting organizations:
- Conducting Assessments: Lead structured assessments of each manufacturer’s proposed capital equipment project, identifying opportunities, validating proposals and recommending refinements or alternatives.
- Codeveloping Budgets: Collaborate with manufacturers to prepare revised project plans and budgets based on assessment findings, ensuring alignment with program priorities and funding guidelines.
- Contracting Agent: The nonprofit, not the manufacturer, will hold the contract with CAM. Nonprofits will serve as the fiscal agent for participating manufacturers, executing agreements with CAM and ensuring compliance with all state contracting requirements.
- Financial Administration: Manage financial transactions in coordination with CAM, including processing invoices and reimbursements tied to project milestones and approved budgets.
- Facilitating Connections: Partner with CAM to connect manufacturers with ecosystem partners, solution providers, training organizations and industry experts.
- Providing Ongoing Technical Support: Offer guidance and mentoring throughout the accelerator to help manufacturers implement their projects successfully and maximize impact.
- Tracking and Reporting Metrics: Collect and report project metrics to CAM throughout the duration of the project, including standard accelerator metrics (e.g., jobs created, employees upskilled, new products developed and geographic distribution) and any additional outcomes agreed upon in the contract.
By serving in this role nonprofits act as both the contracting and technical partner for manufacturers ensuring that each accelerator participant has the financial, administrative and programmatic support required for success.
